Therapy.uk.net - Home
The reasons people come for counselling are very varied.
You may have some idea about what you are struggling with,
or you may just know that things are not as they should or
could be for you.
The support of counselling can help to cope with stresses in life
at a time when family and friends are struggling to support us.
If you are unsure about whether counselling is the right step for
you, then feel free to make contact for an informal chat to check
this out.

Getting startedHow many times will we need to meet?We will have an initial meeting for you to tell me more about what is bringing you to counselling and for you to establish whether you feel comfortable with me. It is then usual to agree to meet for 6 sessions, then to review. You may ring or email me as your first point of contact. For supervision work I offer an initial half-hour appointment at no cost, to ensure that it is appropriate for me to supervise you in the work that you do. Short term workIf there is a specific problem then short term work is sometimes appropriate. 6 to 12 sessions can often produce a change that is noticeable and long lasting. These meeting are usually weekly although at times longer gaps may occur in order to work around an external event.Longer term workSome people seek or need longer term work (from several months to a few years). There will be review points during this time to check that you are getting what you want from the work. How much will it cost?Counselling can be a short-term investment that can have life-enhancing effects.
Who do I work with?I work with individuals and couples from the age of 18. There is no upper age for being able to use counselling. I also offer supervision to qualified and student counsellors and psychotherapists.Therapy.uk.net - What is counselling?

A relationship can move forward to a more satisfying place through work with a suitably trained counsellor. The initial session will last an hour and 15 minutes, then sessions will be an hour. Therapy.uk.net - Emotional eating
Emotional eatingWe are all bombarded with information about what is healthy for us to eat, and yet a lot of people find it hard not to over-eat or binge. Sometimes this leads to us being overweight, sometimes to being an OK weight but unhealthy and lacking in energy.Looking at our eating from numerous aspects can help us develop an easier relationship to eating and to ourselves. It is usually helpful to look at our self-esteem, our expectations of ourselves and others, and our addictive desire for food. Therapy.uk.net - Stress in the workplace
